Pitocin

The other day I watched that Netflix movie the business of being born and a lot of things concerned me but one of the things that concerned me the most that I saw on it was that pitocin restricts the oxygen that is going to your baby! Is that actually like fact? Or is that just some people? I just know so many women that they have used it on and I don't want to use it if that's true!

Ya know, Pitocin is a very commonly used medication.  IF it were fact, the FDA would step in with visible, published warnings to doctors and patients.  All drugs administered are scrutinized and any health concern that crops up commonly is documents.  The FDA will pull a medication off the market if it is known to cause an issue and lack of oxygen would be a concern they'd take very seriously.

I did have Pitocin without a hitch in my second pregnancy.

So, I don't think we randomly should decide to induce but there are times in which it makes sense and Pitocin has a track record that made me confident it was fine to take.  Pitocin is regulated, movies aren't.  :>)

You can turn pitocin down if you want, if offered ask if it is an emergency and if you can wait for as long as possible. Every woman's pregnancy is different^^^.  Our bodies naturally know when it's time for baby to come out. You can also ask not to be offered medication unless it is a medical emergency. :)
