I took pseudoephedrine during all 4 of my prior pregnancies with not problems.  I didn't take this new phenylephrine stuff though...I know they are now saying that both of those should be avoided during pregnancy especially during the first trimester....what is everyone elses take on this.  I'm friggin miserable here and i NEED SOMETHING!!!!  I can't breath my sinus' are so congested.

Ok, so I couldn't find the neti pot but I did find the sinus rinse stuff.  Got it and tried it this morning.  So far I'm still breathing better, but I also took some chlorphenermine and sudafed.  But my sinus did feel a lot better after that rinse.  I'm gonna stick with doing the recommended 2 x's per day till this **** clears up.  Thanks for the suggestion!!!!

Try a Neti Pot. I saw it on Oprah and my dad uses one. Says it cleared up his sinuses so well that he no longer has sinus infections and problems.

Well since I don't have many resources right now and can't just up and run to the store with 3 kids...I've opted for taking the childrens sudafed (liquid) and some tylenol.  I took both during my other pregnancies with no problems so I feel those are my safest bets right now.  Tomorrow I'll be looking for something else if this doesn't help much.  At least tomorrow I can call and consult my obgyn.

I have the saline...but it only helps for about 2 minutes...then it all fills back up again. I can't do the nasal sprays that are safe becuase they cause nosebleeds.  I'm in for a very long miserable night.
I'm tempted to just use some of the childrens sudafed I have.  I used adult strength sudafed during my other 4 pregnancies.  I've never heard of so many reactions to benadryl.....wow.  The last time I took it I was practically incapacitated from drowsiness...that was my only side effect.  Nyquil didn't seem to have anythign adverse for me tho.

I can take both of them without side effects (except drowsiness) when i'm not pregnant.  I know that the ingredients in the nyquil are all listed as safe....I'm not sure about the phenylephrine in the benadryl though.  I wish I had someone to go to the store for me or watch the kids while I went :(

I also had a bad reaction to Benadryl and almost had kidney failure. There is a side affect not many people are aware of and it can cause urine retention, so no matter how much water you drink you can't pee. It was not cool. I don't suggest that either.

have you ever tried saline drops...its mostly just a salt water you buy it over the counter and it really works..it will clear your sinus's and it is more then likly safe sence the only thing thats really in it is salt..but appareantly it clears your passages and its works so....hope you feel better!

I cannot take either of those even when I'm not pregnant. People can have really serious reactions. I start getting heart palpitations, sweating, and almost feel like I'm going to have a heart attack. I' don't think they are good at all, even for non-pregnant people. what about Robutusin (I know that's not spelled right)

my two choices right now are:

Benadryl allergy and sinus headache containing:  acetaminophen, dihpenhydramine hcl and phenylephrine hcl

or

Nyquil  containing:  acetaminophen, dextrmoehtorphan and doxylamine
