Please help - FTM here

I'm 40 weeks (Sept.27th) at my appointment today I was 2cm & 100% effaced . I've been having cramps ( I guess , idk what contractions feel like ) for 2 hours now & I've been timing them for about an hour 5-8 mins apart , lasting 1 min .

Could this be contractions ?
Or is it normal to feel " period like " cramps ?
Should I call my doctor ? Thanks !!

Thank you ladies ! They said it sounds like pre labor pains :( I'll wait until they get more intense to call back .

Sounds like what happened with me I went to the hospital because they were 5 mins apart. I was only 1 cm dialated and they sent me home ): day and a half later I went back in because there were now 2 mins apart and much more painful. I was then 4 cm dialated and they admitted me!

I would call your doctor! Contractions are like very very very severe period cramps. They arent severe right now, but Im sure they will become more intense over time. Just call your doctor and give them a heads up about whats going on and see what they want your next step to be. Congratulations and good luck to you!
