Positive hpt at 3 weeks.... Possible?

I recently found out I was pregnant by a hpt by my calculations I would have been 7 weeks. When I went to the dr 2 weeks ago (also about 3 weeks after my positive test) they confirmed my pregnancy and did a US to see how far along I was. The US said 6w 5d which means I would have concieved Dec 10 but I had a pos hpt on Dec 23. Is this even possible or could the ultrasound have been wrong? Also at that early is it possible to tell if you are carrying twins? They do run in both mine and my husbands family. I ask because maybe that is the reason the test showed pos so early. My lmp was nov 6. So even going by that the US calculations are off. Anyone else have a similar experience?

ITs possible, and no it doesnt have to be twins. They definatly wouldve identified two sacs.

I did IUI but still, I got my +hpt only 10 days later. Definitely possible to get an accurate result that early, just doesn't happen for everyone! Congrats :)

Yes its possible. Conception for me was Oct 11th and I had a positive on Oct 23rd.

First trimester ultrasounds are EXTREMELY accurate the first trimester since all babies during that time develop at the same rate. After 13 weeks is when they no longer determine gestational age based on measurements because the baby then develops at its own rate.

Also if you are having a big baby then it would be a little off. My doc told me my due date was June 18 but the ultrasound said the 11th but I just found out it was a boy and all my boys have been big so good luck.

They count pregnancy from the first day of your last period. So when you are 6w5ds by ultrasound you've really only been pregnant 4w5ds. And yes they can determine twins that early.

It is said that you can get a positive HPT two weeks after conception....Mine showed that early, and I was only carrying a singleton..lol  good luck
