Possible Pregnancy Problems

I started lighty spotting last Sunday without cramping, went to ER had a vaginal ultrasound and blood drawn to check HCG levels. HCG showed that I was at the most 4 wks along and ultrasound showed nothing (which is normal for being only 4 wks along). It is now the following Monday and I have had 3 other blood tests done to check my HCG levels (1 done this morning but I don't know the results as of 8:35am). They have all increased but not doubled like a normal pregnancy should. I also had another vaginal ultrasoud done and still nothing. I am still very very lightly spotting, have no pregnancy sympthoms anymore and I never passed anything. I know I haven't miscarried yet because my HCG levels still increase (but don't double). NO pain, very very light spotting and no cramping. My doctor says he truly doesn't believe that it is an ectopic pregnancy because I have absolutly NO pain. What is happening? If I am miscarring would it take this long and should my HCG levels continue to rise? Has anyone been through this or could anyone provide some MUCH needed help/advise? THANKS!

Thank you all for you concern and support. I do feel that my dr. and I are making the right choice. Considering the 5 HCG tests I have had and the highest one being 2201, I am suppose to be 7-8 wks along. I have also had 2 vag. ultrasounds that have both shown nothing. I also am not having anymore pregnacy sympthoms AT ALL! I do understand that there are possibilities that they could get on track and eventually we could see something on the ultrasound, I just don't feel this is the case for me unfortunetly.

I agree with Zet - I think they're being a little to quick to do a D&C, as everything might be just fine! Maybe you are just really early. It's a good sign that you have no pain and just a bit of spotting. Too bad they're not checking everything out beforehand. I've heard of alot of ladies having really messed up low levels to begin, then have perfectly healthy babies

With ectopic pregnancies you would feel alot of pain. With my 3 miscarriages I didn't have any pain either - just a bit of cramping when everything started, but then it was full on bleeding, not just spotting.

Good luck with everything, I hope you have a sticky one soon, so sorry you had to go through this!

If its light spotting it could only be implantation bleeding - i had it with my first child at about 8 weeks and it was just light spotting - Also at 7 weeks they could only pick up a empty sac no embryo but at 8/9 weeks when we did a scan again the little one was there - just worried they are to quick with a D/C for you - hope they look at everything first before just jumping to D/C - all the best

The dr. had checked for an ectopic but said he didn't believe thats what it is because I am have no pain, although he isn't ruling it out. Anyways, I went back to dr. today and had my HCG's checked again and the levels did rise again but not as they should. Tomorrow we are going ahead and doing the D&C along w/ a lara-something where he will check the tubes and my belly. So I pray everything goes OK for me and that i will be able to have another baby w/o any problems.

i didn't have pain until my tube was going to burst.  My mom had one to... she didn't have any pain.  ( she died 3 times an they brought her back.) I would get a 2nd oppion.

You could be pregnant in your tube.  I would tell them to check for that.  I have had a tubal an lost my left tube.  That happened to me.  That also happen when I lost my one of my twins at 3 weeks... i lost the other at 20.  But have them check your tubes... that way they can save it if it is indeed that.  A m/c can take a while... is there any tissue or gunk in the blood?
