Pregnancy with Mirena IUD

Hello all. I just have a question to ask before making a doctors appointment. Im 21 years old, and currently have an 11 month old boy. I got the Mirena IUD inserted in June 2009 and have had no complications with it. I also have not had a period since being on it. The last week or so i have had horrible cramping in my lower stomach, to the point where i cannot walk normal. I also have been gaining weight in my stomach, over the last month or so. I was told that with an iud an at home pregnancy test is not always accurate, i just know its dangerous to be pregnant with an IUD in. I havent gotten my period for almost a year though, so I dont know how to tell if I am. Are these normal things to have with an IUD or should I make an appointment?

I agree with marie1210, just to be safe I'd make an appointment. Or at least call and talk to your OB or the OB nurse and express your concerns. It could be nothing but it could also be something. Than at least you'll know.

I would make an appointment.  Anytime you notice something out of the ordinary with your body, it's good to get it checked out.  Maybe the IUD has shifted or changed position and is causing the uncomfortable feeling.  It's better to know asap than wait and let something, possibly, get worse.
