Pregnant on the pill?

Hello. I'm 19 years old and have been on the pill for 2 years now. I'm really, really good at taking them every day at the same time. I take them at 12:30pm every day and never had any problems with it except when I tried to skip my period, but that didn't work so I went back to taking my sugar pills. Anyways, that was a long time ago. My periods have been really regular except for this past month. On October 8-11 I got my period. On the 25 to the 2nd of November, I had really heavy brown discharge with also a little bit of light blood. And now it's sunday and my sugar pill week has passed and I did not get my period. I don't feel different at all. My boobs aren't sore or anything like that.

I just started a new pack even though I didn't get my period. Why did I have brown discharge with a little bit of blood for almost 10 days and didn't get my period? Please help me.

Take a pregnancy test. Even when taken correctly the pill is only really about 93% effective

I was on the same birth control pill for 3 years when I got pregnant w our first daughter. Never missed one, took it at the same time, all that, it happened. I had a mirena this time an it malfunctioned and we are about to have our second daughter, getting snipped this time. Oh btw the first year we were rogether we used no contraceptive... No kids. Begin contraceptives, about to have our 2nd child... Seem backwards to anyone else??? Lol -_-

I agree with her. Its normally those who aren't trying that get pregnant. I tried for 4 months and then stopped and now I'm due next month. I find it is harder when you are actively trying. As long as you have a good brand that doesn't end up being recalled, you should be alright.

Lol. Oh okay. My mom is always telling me that I'm always freaking myself out because there are so many people out there trying to get pregnant and it isn't that easy to get pregnant. That's what she says. She says you have to be really unlucky to be that 1% that actually gets pregnant on the pill and whatnot. And she is always like "maybe you guys can't even have kids, and you're always freaking out". Lol. I will let y'all know for sure. Thank you again!

I wouldn't know I've never used em. Lol. I had
The iud for 3 years and got it out when we wanted to try. And yeah, its supposed to, doesn't mean it always will. And I agree, put your mind at ease. Life'll be better when you know. When I was younger and active, even though we didn't actually have intercourse I always freaked myself out. I will shamefully admit that I wasted a lot of money on tests, and even then freaked myself out so much that I started producing colostrum. So yeah, take a test and don't stress. Good luck. If you don't mind, update on what it comes back as.

I know. But condoms just suck... And the pill is supposed to prevent you from getting pregnant since the pill alone is no effective than just condoms. But I know that condoms and pill together are better than just condoms...
Even my mom says that I'm freaking out over nothing because of how good I am at taking my pills.

Thats understandable, but also condoms ontop of bc makes it a lil more 'safe' but unless you or your bf are fixed it could and has happened. Sometimes even when some is fixed they still get pregnant. Its up to you, but if you already know which path you'll take if you are, it'd prolly be best to take a test.

So does that mean that that was my period? My boyfriend keeps telling me that the brown discharge that I had was my period and keeps telling me that I'm freaking out over nothing. But I don't know.

I took the pill for years and would randomly get brown discharge. Just old blood.  Your not pregnant

I would take a test because even though your on the pill you can still have that possibility of getting pregnant. All 3 of my younger brothers were birthcontrol babys.

I've been thinking about it. I'm not sure if I want to take a test or wait until the end of this pack to see if my period was just weird or something. And yeah, I don't plan on having kids, ever. My boyfriend and I really don't want kids. I just got on the pill because its more effective than condoms.

Instead of freaking out, just take a test. If it comes back negative thats great, since it seems you do not want a baby at the moment. If it comes back positive then you'll have some choices to make concerning what to do next. Or, you can wait the entire month to see if you get your period. But that could cause you to stress to much about it.

I am not trying to be in denial. I am just do scared and I am sexually active, and we do only use the pill. But that's only because I know that it works. I've never had any problems with it before...

I know that there is always a chance but I chose the pill for a reason. I read in so many places and also my gynecologist told me that if you take the pill correctly, it is as effective as the surgery to not have kids. And I am so good at taking them. So I shouldn't be pregnant. I'm so scared.

No, I know all about interactions because I'm always so paranoid about getting pregnant. :( I didn't do anything different this month than any other month. I just had really dark brown discharge for more than a week and thenon my inactive week (which ended today), my period just didn't come at all.

Did you happen to take antibiotics?  Both of my younger sisters (25 and 21) fell pregnant while on the pill because they were on antibiotics.  They weaken the effectiveness of the pill.  Taking a test is the only way you will know. Good luck!

I was on the pill and I took it around the same time every day and didn't skip any, yet here I am 21 weeks pregnant.  It's not 100% effective so take a test to be sure.

Birth control is extremely effective. Like 98% if you take it properly and never mess up. BUT anything is possible and yes, women have become pregnant on the pull. Since there's no way to know without a test, you just need to take one. That's the best advice anyone on here can give you.

parry,  I'm sorry for your loss.   Very sad.

But it's not true that if you reliably take a birth control pill as directed,  you have 25% chance of getting pregnant.   The billings mucous (rhythm method) is more reliable than that,  even.

You come here for advice but it sounds like you're in denial. We are not doctors and even they can not give you a diagnosis without blood work or a pee test. Implantation bleeding could be short or long or you might not have any. Also some people spot while pregnant consistently for a week or longer it looks like that. Just take a few tests. Yes a few. I was pregnant and took a test a day before the doctor checked and it said negative.

Take a pregancy test... your most likely pregnant.. it is possible to get pregnant while on birth control... I know this cuz in January on my first pregancy (before I misscarriaged). I was on birth control and I still got pregnant... they should of told you that you have up to a 25% chance of still getting pregnant...

That doesn't sound like implantation bleeding, it sounds like a weird period. So many things can trigger that. I honestly doubt very much that you have anything to worry about. But you do need to take a test because since you're on the pill, you won't get another period for 4 more weeks, and that's too long to be unknowingly feeding those hormones to your baby. Just take a test, like I said, you probably aren't pregnant
