Pregnant women and sleeping ..

Does anyone know why it is better for a pregnant woman to sleep on her left side rather than to sleep on her back?

Sleeping on your back cuts off circulation to the baby. I'm a stomach sleeper, and obviously I cannot sleep on my stomach. I will lose sleep but better for baby.

You can lay on your back, but it's recommended you do not sleep on it or lay for extended periods of time. IE hours and hours.

left side promotes ideal blood circulation to the baby.

the issue with the back starts around 16 weeks, your uterus is heavy and has potential if you are on your back to block off a main artery to the baby
