Prevent ripping

What are all the ways to prevent ripping during childbirth?

Massaging the perineum. It's the skin between the vagina and the buttocks. I recommend cutting those finger nails and doing it while in the shower. It's uncomfortable the water helps to soothe

Listen to the midwife when it gets to the final stages. Because you get the feeling to push you naturally want to just do big pushes to get rid of the burning pain you have one you start crowing (babies head coming out) she will direct you to do either little pushes or  pant abit like a dog does so you dont rip or tear at each point of your baby's head is being born. Breathing techniques helps loads which you can look at on YouTube. Hope this helps x

I've heard that lathering yourself with primrose oil down there will help, that or almond oil. I've still got a bit to go but I will be trying the primrose oil one as I have it.
