Progesterone Supplements

Have any of you used these?  And what were your side effects?  I'm taking supplements daily until AF comes (Hopefully AF WON'T come) and I've been feeling nauseous and crampy, but I'm not sure if these are side effects from the progesterone or what.  Anyone else experience something similar?

So, I called the nurse, and she told me that taking progesterone will actually delay my period, so once I hit 14 DPO (which was yesterday) to take a HPT, and if negative, stop the progesterone, and AF will come.  Sure enough, AF came.  Darn it. :-(  But, I have renewed hope.  I really do.

See if your Dr. could get you in for a blood draw to check HCG and Prog. Levels.

My levels were only 13, and my doc said that was fine, but I think you're right. . . I probably shouldn't just quit taking it on my own.  I'm just experiencing so many weird side effects that are playing with my emotions and I can't figure out if I'm pregnant or if these are all side effects from the medication.  I've been nauseous for a couple of days, diarrhea, crampy, etc. . .

I haven't taken an HPT yet.  I want to be a few days late first.  Although, 14 DPO is late for me, but I'm not sure if my long luteal phase is due to the progesterone.

I guess I'll take the progesterone right after work, and in the meantime, I'll call my doctor to see what he thinks.  They only gave me a supply of 7 progesterone suppositories, so today is my last one.

I would not stop the progesterone until the doctor tells you to, my doctor kept me on it for the fist trimester in both by pregnancies.  My progesterone was 15 and my doc wanted to see it a little higher.

good luck, have you taken a hpt?

Thanks for the comments.  Today I am 14 DPO, my temps are still high, and no AF in sight.  (Although, I've had cramps on and off since Wednesday, November 12th)

Today I didn't take the progesterone.  I feel like, if I am pregnant, than there is really no point in taking it cause my progesterone levels were normal to begin with, and if I'm not pregnant, I should stop it in case taking it daily is preventing AF from coming, even though I'm not pregnant.

This stuff stresses me out.  Maybe I will call the doctor today and just see what he says.  I just wish I knew if progesterone delayed things.  I've never had a luteal phase this long before.

Well, prometrium is different than the suppositories (at least, I took Prometrium orally).  I don't know if taking progesterone orally vs. suppository would make a difference in regards to yoru cycles... I would have to think not, but who knows.

Until you are able to give your doctor a call, I would call the pharmacy and ask them the side effects question, as well as your question about delaying your cycle.  The pharmacist should be able to clarify for you, and ease your mind until tomorrow.

Good luck and I hope you are preggers soon!!! :)

Another progesterone question.  All of you wonderful ladies have told me about some of your side effects, but I'm also wondering if progesterone delayed your cycle any?  I've been trying to research this on the internet, and there is A LOT of conflicting information. Some say their period came late, some say right on time.  And some are saying that their doctors told them to stop taking it after so many applications, and then come in for a pregnancy blood test to decide whether to continue taking it.  My doc told me to continue taking it until AF comes.  But some say AF won't come if taking it.  CAN YOU SAY CONFUSION???

My luteal phase is always 11 to 12 days, no matter what.  Today is day 13.  I don't want to get my hopes up, so I'd really like to hear if any of you had delayed AF from taking progesterone supplements?

I'm actually not sure why my doc had me do the progesterone.  I had mine tested last cycle, and it was 13, which I hear is in the normal range, yet, I've had some issues with spotting, so my doc thought he'd give it a try.  My luteal phase ranges from 11-12 days, and today I'm 12 DPO, and still no AF.  I was actually up half the night due to terrible nauseau, which then turned into diarrhea. (Sorry for the gross detail!)  I'm hoping and praying that this is all due to being pregnant, but to be honest, I'm not feeling that hopeful.  I've been having some dull cramps for a few days.  I'm so sad. :-(

Did you take progesterone for a short luteal phase, by any chance? Just curious, as mine's only 10 days for the last 4 months and I'm wondering if someday (if not preggo in a year) my doc will put me on this.

Good luck! Hope it's good news for you!

I took Prometrium till week 12. It had the opposite effect on me and made me unable to sleep.  I also had progesterone shots three times a week.  I never had any upset stomachs I never had morning sickness either.  I ended up having a missed m/c when I went in for my 12 week us.  Today is actually my due date and it's been a rough day.

Good luck on TTC!

I'm also taking Crinone.  I have been extra tired, but I've also been nauseous.  And sorry to be gross here, but I've also had diarrhea on and off for a couple days.  I'd love to be pregnant. . . But I guess because I'm on Crinone, I'm not sure what I can attribute these symptoms to.

What kind of progesterone are you taking. I'm taking a vaginal cream called Crinone. I feel pretty good with it. Just extra tired than before i was taking it.
