Pumping FTM

So i will have to go back to work 6 weeks after my baby boy gets here.. i was hoping for an additional 6 weeks but moneys tight nd honestly i will feel better going back knowing that i will be better off making sure he is provided for.. Ne ways my question is i defiantly DO NOT want to go to formula if i can help it.. how many times do you think i will need to pump though out an 8 hr work day? and about how long each time? also have any moms pumped so they can have breast milk while their gone but still put baby on the boob when your home? is it easy for baby to go back nd forth??

I wenr back to work early.  I pumped before hand to make sure she'd have enough milk  while I'm @ work.  Also when I work I go home for work.  If she's more hungry when I come home I pump.  For an 8 hour day I pump 2-3 times

I work with infants for a living, and my moms who only breastfeed pump as often as their baby would eat. if they are on a 3 hour schedule, they pump at 3 hours, if it's 2 then 2, etc. I would also try pumping while you are at home too because then your body will think it needs to produce more  to feed baby. Sometimes women who pump find it harder to get enough from a pumping session for various reasons. Hope you are able to make it work! And props to you for wanting to keep away formula as much as possible even though it might be more work :)

My son is 3 1/2 weeks and he's been using a bottle too since he was 2 weeks. It's not all the time though ony if I go out which is a few times a week. And my son is a big piggy he eats about 4 oz and that's about how much I can pump too.

I pumped every two hours while my daughters were in the nicu, and continued when they were out because the were use  to bottles and could not latch.

I pumped exclusively the first week after he was born bc he was in the nicu. I didn't get much at all. I was pumping every two to three hours round the clock. My supply increased when I got him home, but I still don't pump enough for a feeding. So we just stick to breast since I'm a sahm.

My son is 2 1/2 months old and ebf. I get 2oz total if I'm lucky per pumping session. He took the bottle pretty good until almost 2 months, but then he started refusing. He wants the breast or nothing. He doesn't even like pacifiers anymore.

Also breast size doesn't effect supply unless you've had breast surgery. Like reduction, implants, etc.

I would aim for 3, but at least 2, if you have a double pump probably 10 minutes or until your not getting anymore. I'm EBF'ing (my daughter is 7 weeks) and whenever I need to leave I always pump and leave breast milk for my daughter. My daughter has went between bottles and breast since about 3 weeks. She's had no problem at all, actually she prefers breast over bottle. Have you tried pumping before? I honestly can't get much out of my breasts at all, some women can't pump much so if you have a hard time try doing compressions in the side of your breast where your armpit is, like right towards the chest/armpit/boob area if you know what I mean haha, it always helps me to get more! Good luck!!

I'm not sure about how often you should. But I pump for when I'm out and he uses the boob while I'm home and I've never had trouble with it, he's done really well with a bottle and with the boob.
