Question regarding pregnancy

Hi. I am 29 and 9 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby. I take ultram for pain and have taken it for 2 years. Even though this drug is thought to be not adictive, it is! I go through BAD wthrawl when I dont take it. My question is, if I am experiencing withrawl symp. does this mean my baby is too? Will my baby be safe while I tapper off this medication? I would rather not take this med. while pregnant and am seriosly considering not taking it any more! Please help, your time is much appriciated!

HI!
If you were my patient, I would switch you over to Suboxone, and then off.  The withdrawls will be much less dreadful if you do that.  You would definitely be better off without the Ultram during pregnancy--the baby will be addicted too, and will go through withdrawls too after delivery. The suboxone will be much gentler for both of you!
You will need to find a doctor with special prescribing priveleges to write the prescriptions and supervise your taper--to do this, I suggest that you go to http://Suboxone.com.  This can be done out-patient.

You are a good mommy to get off the meds--I hope you can find something better after the baby is born.

Congratulations!
Dr B

Thank you so much for taking time to answer my questions. I wondered if I were to stop taking this all together, without the taper, will the fetus go through the withdrawl also. Or in other words I know it will be hard on me, however will it be hard on him or her also?
Thank You and yes, once I get this med out of my life it will stay that way!! I'm not sure how they can rate this medication as non-addictive, it seems wrong!
