Quitting smoking?

So I'm having trouble quitting, it's like knowing that I have to makes me want to smoke even more. I don't really have the cravings, and most the time don't finish them and I've definitely cut back but I keep smoking out of habit. I tried cutting back as much as I could, but it's not enough I'm thinking I'll try cold turkey. I really really want to quit, but everyone I know smokes and it's allowed inside where I live. Just *****, I don't want them or crave them but keep smoking anyway. Ugh. Help, what are ways that worked best for you?

Honestly I had an incredibly hard time quitting smoking I tried several different remedies none worked until I mad up my own here's what I did.... Since we all want the best for our lovely babies they also in turn become our best motivation... At my 20 week ultrasound as I'm sure all the rest of the world did I received pictures of my baby I put these in a little pictures wallet and kept them in my purse and every time I even thought of having a cigarette I pulled the pictures out and looked through them and remembered how my baby looked as I saw it moving in my belly for that first time and then I thought if I smoke problems can happen and maybe the baby won't be able to breath properly and that would be all my fault ..... So basically what I'm trying to say is do what works for you whether it's herbal teas or lighting inscents or going for a walk or whatever the same thing isn't going to work for everyone I hope I was at least helpful good luck

I quit straight off as soon as I was told that every cigarette you smoke is like twisting the baby's cord for 40 minutes and cutting off their oxygen supply completely for that whole 40 mins! I don't know if shock tactics work for you but that worked for me!! Good luck xxxx

Thanks I'll try that! I just want whatevers best for baby. I'm 16 weeks tomorrow. I want to breast feed, so I really really want to quit! They're just gross to me now but that darn habit is just the worst.

When I found out I was pregnant, I just couldn't see myself stopping.. I didn't know how. Plus with the added shock of finding out I was pregnant, I didn't believe it and thought smoking wasn't doing anything. I honestly have no idea how I did it, I just stopped. And for me, that's a miracle, I was smoking way too much. I finally just felt like there was more to it, the moment I came to the realisation that I was pregnant, I instantly became protective of my baby, and whatever I had to give up was worth it because I had a responsibility.

I think you'll figure it out, cutting back is a big step. Don't listen to people who give you **** about this, it's a hard thing to do. You'll know when you're ready to stop, and when you are you'll feel somewhat relieved.

Stop being so hard on yourself, you have cut down, that's a good start, and having people smoking around you isn't going to help either, I was lucky at the start of my pregnancy smoking made me sick, but once I was into my second trimester I couldn't help but want one, there main thing to do is focus on quitting, and usually cold turkey isn't the best as most people cave within a few months, but I wish you all the best :)

I read this this thing where it said you should put a little salt in your mouth or eat something salty when you get the urge to smoke or before you smoke. It's suppose to get rid of the urge. Good luck ! Cutting back is a good start :) how far a long are you?
