I smoked before I got pregnant... and after awhile just the smell made me absolutely sick... I stopped around 4 weeks.

stay away from other smokers... its hard to quit watching someone else smoke...  but dont add alot of pressure on yourself take it day by day... like the PP said cut back gradually and go from there.... and the first post of  "think about the baby you dont want to lose it" is a child who is using this forum as a joke and doesnt have any medical advice to give... so dont worry about her input

PS i had quit cold turkey before i got preg (like a year and a half or so) so i cant say anything about quiting with crazy hormones but i only did it cause there wasnt any smokers around.... but if i still smoked when i was prego i think the morning sickness would have forced me to quit... so if you are unfortunate enough to have to deal with that lovely pregnancy symptom then maybe it might help cut the crave for a smoke....

hey i was in the same boat a while ago i quit with my first at 6 weeks pregnant and never looked back... its easy for people to say think of the baby but at that stage it still hasnt sunk in that theres actually gonna be a baby,

what i did was start off by cutting way down didnt have any in the morning for first 2 days... next few days only smoked in the evening... then went down to 1 cigerette before i went to bed it worked really well for me and eventually i got through a full day without smoking and once i got through 1 day it was easy to just not smoke :D  try to stay busy, good luck

As a non smoker I don't have much to help you with but I would schedule your ob appointment ASAP and your dr may be able to help you. Also I have heard that after hearing your babies heartbeat it will help encourage you to quit smoking. Maybe you have already tried this but maybe gum or hard candy will help too. It helped my grandma when she had to quit for her knee surgery. She had to have replacement and she hasn't picked it back up 4 years later yet :)

Best of luck!!
