Racing/Pounding heart, aching jaw during pregnancy?

I've always had a problem with my heart racing but normally it takes about a half hour to stop or at least slow down to a managable rate. But I'm 26 weeks and 4 days pregnant as of today and last night I woke up to my heart racing and pounding so badly you could see it thumping in my chest and against my clothes. I didn't start to even slow down until an hour later and a full two hours later I was finally able to go back to sleep. The left side of my jaw hurt as well and that's never happened before. Anyone have this problem? Know anything to help?

98-100 is a good rate, so that's a positive. A rate above 100 is tachycardia, above 150 is SVT. A-Flutter is rates where it goes above 200-400 BPM and has two types. (Usually is around 300 BMP and above)

There are multiple things you can do to slow it, IF it is actually quick. You can feel as though your heart is racing when it actually isn't. This is usually brought on by anxiety. If your HR is high, you can do what is called a valsalva maneuver to bring it down. This involves holding your breath and then bearing down with your body, similar to straining for a bowel movement. You can also cough repeatedly or plunge your face into icy water.

Pregnancy will often cause your heart beat to be higher than normal, because you're pumping a lot more blood than you were before, so it has to work faster. If you constantly see it high, you definitely need it checked out. It's important anyways to being it up with your doctor in general because it can cause you to faint or become SOB when it climbs high. Not to mention its just overall uncomfortable.

I have no worries now it got dealt with early enough. Idk how it is where yoh are but where i am we get free cousilling and everything we could possible need. Makes it so much easier for people who are depressed and have other simular issues.

I have terrible anxiety and depression so I've always been worried that mine will be born really stressed out! But hopefully she'll be fine and I can get started back on them.

That's a terrible thing to tell a pregnant woman! I'm sorry they did that to you!

I'll definitely keep you updated! They're said they're going to put me back on my anti-depressants and anxiety meds since I hit my second trimester but they haven't done anything yet!

Maybe they just tell us these things to make us feel better? I don't know. But I'll definitely keep you updated.

It slowed before I had it taken but that's better than what I expected to hear. That was so helpful! I have an appointment today at 10:30 (it's nearly 9 right now) so I'll be sure to bring this up when I talk to them.

I have really bad anxiety but it's never contributed to my heart racing. Either way it doesn't hurt to mention this either. I'll try those when it happens next!

Yeah, I've heard of that happening in pregnancy. Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate it!

Clysta is definitely more detailed then me lol. But i must emphasis avoiding stimulants just incase. They are my biggest trigger. A drank a can of pop last week and when i got to the hospital my heart rate was at 163 and often i faint before i even get there. So until youve been diagnosed i really recommend avoiding caffine

I have superventricular tachycardia and it sounds like you do to. Pregnancy can make it worse but be reasured no harm is being done to you baby. You might need mediciation but for the time being just incase no caffine this includes chocolate :( and no other stimulants. One trick to stop it. Is to bear down like your trying to poop... Now not to hard cause you are pregnant but in most cases tensing all your muscles does the trick. I hope this helps

When I got my vitals checked it had slowed but it was 98-100 beats per minute. I haven't.

I'll bring it up in my next appointment.

Do you know the rate it was actually going? Have you ever been diagnosed with tachycardia?
