deli meats help!

I read you're not suppose to eat cold deli meats and today I forgot and was just too hungry and I ate two turkey sandwiches on a bun cold. Will this harm the baby.? my family said they ate any/everything and never had a problem but that was years ago and everyone is different :( I'm worried but feel fine..

I'm sure you'll be fine. If you start to feel sick or anything defiantly go to the drs though. Cold cuts and things like that could contain listeria which could harm you and your baby. You're a lot more likley to get it while you're pregnant which is why they say to avoid it. I personally stopped eating everything like that but that's just because I worry so much and just want my baby to be perfectly healthy.

Me personally, I decided not to eat them until I deliver but only because I know if I did, I would obsess that I was that 1 in 1000000 that got the bad sandwich and I'll end up sick. Lol. But I know it's perfectly safe as long as you're observant of the conditions of the meat. For me it's just not worth the unnecessary head ache I'll give myself. I am a worry wart by default :-( lol

You can have deli meats under certain conditions. If your deli seems up to par with their cleanliness and their refrigerator is at the proper temp in which the listeria bacteria doesn't grow, deli meats are perfectly safe. Just don't eat deli meats that seem to have been sitting out for some time.

The only reason they recommend not to is cuz of bacteria that grows on deli meat when you buy your meat microwave it for a min or two in the package and it will kill off the bacteria that grows on the meat and you wont have to worry about heating it up again
