Thanks Ladies!
I have read not to put Cereal in their bottles...due to them not wanting to eat off a spoon later on. But my baby is a big boy and I know he'll never deny the spoon or anything I put in his mouth! LOL. So thats the least of my worries. Plus I know a lot of moms who do it and their babies are fine. Plus all babies are individuals, so I need to do whats best for my kiddo and so far so good in the bottle!
He actually pooped more since we've given him the Cereal! Not diarrhea just an extra poop than what he was usually doing. He's napping more and longer during the day and slept all night. And it hasn't affected his attitude either. So we'll stick with it in the 5PM bottle and go from there. I'll keep you ladies updated in his sleep! So far its been great!
Gina,
per doctors instruction, we put a couple of teaspoons in a 6 ounce bottle, more like 3. We do morning and night time bottles and Sarah does just fine, no constipation or anything! She loves it!
I hear ya on the age.....Sarah is 5 months on FRIDAY!!!
I do 1 oz of rice cereal and also give her about 1-2 oz's of baby food. We've done sweet potatos and just started peas.
We feed Mikayla the rice cereal though. I read somewhere that it isn't good to put the cereal in the bottle because then they may not want to eat it by spoon (because they are used to it in the bottle). I've never put it in her bottle so I really don't know how true that is.
But we feed her the food during dinner time, so around 630 or so, then she has another bottle before bed around 830 or 9. She sleeps until about 645am when I work and for whatever reason when i'm off she sleeps until like 8 or 9. She must know I'm up or that I want to sleep when I'm off!
I think the rule of thumb is 1 tsp per oz of milk/formula.
Good luck!
Let us know how the sleeping goes...AND I can't believe he's already 5 months!
