Rights...

I'm sure most of you have husbands/boyfriends or baby daddy's who want to be there.. This question is bout father signing over rights... I have heard that the mother has to agree to the father signing over rights.. Is this true??? Unless he is found unfit.. Have also read that a father can not sign rights over unless there is a father figure willing and wanting to adopt baby..

It's different in every state. You would have to check with your local laws.

I think it depends on what state you live in and the judge and all.... In California the father has the right to be at the hospital (not in the room with you when you deliver if you don't want him there, but can see the baby as soon as they bring it out). And if you are asking for child support or state funding (because the state will make the father pay something either way) the father will get some custody rights because he is paying his fair share.

Either way, you will probably have to do it legally...which involves court time and possibly lawyers...

I have rights and responabilities for my three children, and a shared residents order to have fone contact everynight, and get my children every school holidays. I am a father I live for my kids and would never dream of signing my right over, I always wanna see my kids, they r my life and the best thing in my life. My ex- partner is being funny with fone contact lately she stopped me from speaking to them for five days and broke he court order, their are things going on what my children tell me and social service have told about ex partner drinkin, fighting and the police. I live 450 miles away and have got a job at the moment, always save what to pick my children up on holidays wouldn't never let them down on that or phoning them. Its not right I want to be a big part of their lives

Even if he is on the birth cert he has no rights unless you guys are married. After a DNA test is done or both of you sign an affidavit saying he is the father without a doubt, Then both of you have to go to court for him to give up his rights. That means no child support. If you don't want him there or to take the baby away you can file for custody.
