Should I head to the doctors office?

I am almost 28 weeks and I haven't been feeling very well the past few days.  Some stuffiness (not uncommon) and a headache that lingers.  Yesterday it was so bad I was in tears.  I feel my baby move all day long so I'm sure he is ok but I just have this unsettling feeling in the back of my mind.  My next appointment is Tuesday but we're going out of town this weekend.  Just wondering if I should go in to see the doctor (the phone nurse is always less than helpful).

Do you struggle with sinus problems or sinus headaches?  Headaches in pregnancy can be normal, but can also indicate other problems.   What is your blood pressure?  Do you see stars in your vision?  Do you struggle with stomach pain?  The combination of these symptoms can indicate Pregnancy Induced Hypertension (PIH) also known as pre-eclampsia.  (One cause of headaches in pregnancy needing medical intervention).  There are other causes as well, some benign and others not so).  Call your physician.  Get your blood pressure taken also.  Walmart pharmacy's usually have machines to do this for free.  If your blood pressure is elevated, call your physician.

The stress of being pregnant, and your body doing extra work to creat another human, combined with a flu or something similar can make you feel like crap. But When I had my first son, I was 26 or so weeks, had no pain or discomfort or anything. Just a wierd feeling, instincts i believe. I went to the ER and the nurse looked at me like I had five heads, when I told her I didnt know what was wrong. I Just didnt feel right. She asked me a series of questions and everything appeared normal. They admitted me to L&D just to have a OB take one final once over.. And, I was in active labor. My Doc gave me magnesium sulfate and trebutaline to stop the labor and I was on bedrest for the rest of my pregnancy. My situation was like wayyy unnormal, but sometimes as moms or moms-to-be we just have that instinct. If you feel uncertain, just go in for peace of mind. Probably nothing since you seem to have a cold, but just in case check before you travel to be sure.. Best of luck.. (didnt wanna freak you out my pregnancies are always crazy, im just a tin person and cant keep them in or something..)

A general feeling that something is not right is actually listed as one of the symptoms of preterm labor.. It seems weird for sure but they say most people really get an instinct that tells them that something is not right even when their physical symptoms are not that obvious.. Proves to be true with the above poster... I hope that everything is alright!

I appreciate your comments.  I did go in and my blood pressure was fine.  Baby is moving around normally, but no other tests were done.  I have a regular appointment tomorrow (glucose test - blah) and a sonogram.  That should show more.  Could you have PIH and not have high blood pressure?

I still have the headache off and on, but I'm assuming it's just sinus.  I'm hoping at least.  Hope to get more answers tomorrow.
