Maybe if you are laying the baby on you, you could lay them so their head is turned to the side.

On you is not fine. You have to be careful doing that too.  Its called rebreathing. When thry cannot lift their heads they rebreathe the air that they exhaled. This is how my brother died. On you is just as unsafe as in the crib on their belly

They say not to put them on their chest because they can put their face down and suffocate because they don't know to move their heads but if they're laying on you you're watching them so if baby's breathing changes you'll notice it. Sometimes babies just pass away but a lot of times it's from blankets or stuffed animals suffocating them because they don't know to move like laying on their tummy. But on you is fine.

Sids can happen in any position. Any soft pillow or blankets can cause it. Best thing to do is ask your doc about it. They would know for sure what's best

Not fully Joder standing what you said on the last part but putting a baby on your chest is fine so long as you know you will not roll over on them. There have been many deaths that way also. Also another reason you should watch out when putting baby on their back is the soft spot on the back of there cranium where brain is still developing can give a baby a flat head due to the indentation of pressure.
