morning sickness

What are some good tips for controlling my morning sickness? I don't think I can take much more of waking up to myself gagging.

Sip on ice water, eat about 5 saltines before you go to sleep & a couple before you get out of bed Always works for me! I was nauseous but neverrr threw up. I thank saltines for that:)

I munched on crackers about a half an hour after I would wake up, or chewed minty gum. I wouldn't drink anything until my sickness went away for that day. I never really threw up or anything, just felt sick, but if I didn't do this I would throw up a lot.

Lots of these suggestions are good and might help.  Unfortunately for me, I just suffered for about the first 18 weeks or so.  But I would try anything.

Jolly Ranchers can be helpful believe it or not.  Oh, don't brush when very first waking up.  It is total habit for me but it also makes me vomit horribly and I was also told this by a nutritionist while I was in the hospital (from Hypermesis) with my last pregnancy.  If you can't hold anything down, try sucking on frozen Gatorade ice chips.  Freeze some and just suck on them.  The key, if you are really bad off, is to stay hydrated.  Zofran and Phenergan are safe prescribed medications that are given to pregnant women that have bad morning sickness/Hypermesis while pregnant.  They help some women but were not a great source of relief for me.  I did vomit less times per day, when I took the Zofran though.

If none of these things work, don't hesitate to speak to your doctor about it.  Don't suffer silently.  I did that through many pregnancies and there is no need to do that if you can get some relief.

Oh, and stay away from fried and fatty foods right now.  That certainly won't help you right now.  Some women say sour, such as pickles, help them.  Also with what you eat, try eating cold type foods such as sandwiches.  The warm foods have more of an odor and will trigger more nausea.  This too was told to me by the nutritionist.  Many people warn against lunch meat, but if it works, then go with it.  I have had 7 very healthy babies.  Ginger teas might help.  Peppermint ice cream and Blue Bell sells it only during the holidays but it can help settle your stomach and is a good source of calcium for both you and the baby.  The dairy may not help but then again the peppermint may over power that.  It is worth a try.

The thing is, what works for one woman may not work for another.  For me, nothing worked but time, however, I was willing to try anything and believe me, I did.

Good luck and so sorry for my novel.  I just know how awful it is and have so much empathy for anyone that feels this way.  It's like having a horrible stomach bug for weeks or even months.  Take care and I do hope you feel better soon.

Merry Christmas!!!

You can Google it and it tells you a bunch of stuff you can do to control it. There's one where before you even get up( this happens to me), you have a snack or ask your partner to get it for you. Once you eat that you may also want to eat another snack when you get up. Also snacking on crackers all day may help with feeling nauseaus. I do this and I feel so much better.
