Skipped two periods, nausea, vomiting, headaches, negative hpt.

I am 37. My last period was October 3rd. I did a pregnancy test when I was a week late and it was negative. I have skipped two cycles, typically 28 days, and had a negative home pregnancy test just a few days ago. If I were pregnant, I would be around ten or eleven weeks. I kind of assume that it would show on an hpt by now. I have been nauseous and vomiting after meals, daily headaches, sore breasts and generally feeling blah. I have an appt with my gyn at the end of January BUT I am having surgery to remove my wisdom teeth before then. I have always read that the home tests are accurate but I would hate to have surgery and then find out that I am pregnant. Any advice? Would it be possible to be ten or more weeks pregnant and still not be showing on a home test? All the symptoms could just be a hormone imbalance or something....ya think? Thanks for any insight.

Actually, I haven't gotten a period yet but I didn't go in for a blood test yet either. I am a procrastinator. I took another hpt last week and it was still negative. I would say it is safe to assume that I am not pregnant. If I find out differently, I will update.

Thanks Dr. B for the freebie. lol I appreciate it.

Did you ever find out about your situation...whether you were pregnant or not??  Just curious.  I'm 41, 18 days late as of today 12/31.  I had a neg hpt on being 11 days late.  Never been pregnant before that I know of, also never late on my period either--usually every 28 days.  Was due for one on Dec. 13th and just never showed up.  Felt some nausea for first time this morning, ate some saltines but still feel kinda sick still.  No breast soreness, headaches, or backaches, none of those typical pregnancy symptoms...just the missed cycle only.  Haven't done another hpt since & haven't done any blood tests of any kind.  I just stopped thinking about it after having done the hpt last week.  Figured it was 99% accurate so I probably wasn't pregnant.  But after not feeling well this morning & still no period, I was starting to think about it again.  So I read your blog and was curious to know if you found out anything since then.  Happy 2009 to you!

Hi!
I will slide you a freebie this time around--I hope there will not be any confusion.  Usually I answer one free question per day, and charge for the remainder.

In your case, I would suggest blood test to double check.  I don't know if the dentist/oral surgeon plans to do any preoperative blood work, but it is possible that they could do the test for you.  In fact I strongly suspect that they are going to REQUIRE a test before they will proceed with surgery!  They are going to be even less enthusiastic about operating on you if pregnant, than you are about having the surgery!

Your best bet--call your dentist's office and ask them your question--they will have the best answer!

Good luck!

I am confused. I just saw something about being charged for asking questions. I thought I was just asking other readers and didn't realize that there was any charge, that the site was free. If there is a charge, please disregard the question. Thanks lol
