Smoking -_-

So I know this woman who is about as far along as I am (34weeks), and she smokes at least a cigarette everyday, and has been throughout her entire pregnancy. She told me it was because her doctor said that of she "quit cold turkey" that it could have negative effects on the baby because of with drawels, though she had plenty of time to quit by now. Is this true?? What do you guys think??

I quit cold turkey the second I found out I was pregnant I was already in my second trimester when I found out! Me&&baby are fine and I never had any problems or issues! I personally think it's an excuse because the mother doesn't have the will power to actually quit for time being to ensure her baby is healthy....but that's just my opinion!

That's what I thought, plus the affects of smoking while pregnant seem to be way worse than the withdrawals to me..

They do tell you it's best not to quit if you have been smoking for awhile and smoke multiple cigarettes a day because you do have withdraws that they say harm your baby. But if she really wanted to quit while she was pregnant she could have I know many women who have smoked for years a pack a day and yet they stayed away from cigarettes while pregnant.
