Smoking

How bad is it actually to smoke an occasional cigarette? What are risks? What can happen? Found out I was pregnant at nearly 2 months was smoking heavy before I knew I was prego. Now I'm mainly weened off them..but still. Is it true it can increase chance of premature birth??

Hiya i never smoked in any pregnancies on my 3rd. All born at 6 pound 9. My sister in law smoked all the way thru if not more as she craved them (if im honest thought it was terrible how much she did smoke) yet her baby was 7 pound 13. And my little boy has asthma and her little boy is perfectly fine. So i personally think its not true all the time... never would vape thou u dont no what the long term effects are yet xx

I cut down from 20 a day to about 4 a day (gradually) when I found out I was pregnant. I've got a lot of stress at home so I thought I depended on those 4 cigarettes to keep me going. Once I had my 12 week scan I decided to stop because it suddenly became so real that smoking didn't mean as much to me as I thought. It's been hard but I quit cold turkey. I wish you the best in which ever decision you make

Vaping is WAY worse for you and the baby than cigarettes are. I'm currently trying to quit; have been a pack and a half a day smoker for years and after a week I'm down to 5 or less a day. If it's just too ******* hard and you have to have a cigarette once in awhile. Do it. It's better than putting other chemicals into your body that your system isn't used to. Vapor isn't just "water" and the "nicotine" is a chemical compound designed to mimic it. Not to mention the different types of chemicals they use in the flavorings and solvents.. It's the best idea to stop smoking period but, if your own of those women whose environment or lack of self control (my big issue with cigs) then just cut back as far as you can. Force yourself for your growing child. And if you're still smoking a cigarette here and there, I'm sure the kid will be fine. I'm no doctor but, I have met a lot of women couldn't completely quit and their children were born with zero issues. It's a toss up; just do what you can make yourself do and try not to feel guilty. Guilt will only make you depressed and that's bad for the baby, too ;)

Was slightly also concerned that vape pens/e-cigs haven't had many tests done on them or studies. FDA hasn't reviewed them thoroughly or something like that..should I be concerned if i even smoked a vape every so often with 0 nicotine mg just to help with the temptation and fixation. Any thoughtsor have any answers?

Did you have trouble? Did you quit cold turkey? Is it true also if your smoking like 1-2 packs a day or every other day then you go cold turkey your baby could suffer worse? I heard just like any other drug/med you withdrawal from cigarettes too. Changes physical body /mental etc. Is this somewhat true is it better to quit in a span of a week. I bought myself a vape recently and every 3 days I lowered nicotine mg untill I just put in a flavor with 0 nicotine it helped! I quit for 2 whole weeks but then lost the vape and picked up another cig..

it can cause pre mature birth, a smaller birth weight as well as your baby have lung development issues. i decided it was best for my baby if i quit smoking all together but every mother has her own opinion
