You can store breast milk in the fridge for 4-7 days and freeze it up to 6-12 months
There are bags you can buy to put it in. It has the oz marks on it and a spot for the date.
Is there special bottles to freeze it in?
Really helpful ladies, thank you
I would have one in the fridge thawing out. Then keep the rest in the freezer because it seemed to always go bad when I left it in the fridge for over 2 or 3 days, and I hated wasting it!
Just make sure if you're thawing milk ahead of time you use it within 24 hours - frozen milk is only good for a day once it is thawed.
My sister froze most of it but always had a couple in the fridge defrosted. When she used one he would pull one out of the fridge and defrost it. It depended on if she was working or someone was going to be tending. If she was working she knew generally how many they go through a day so she would put that many in the fridge the night before. Then we would run it under warm water to warm it up. That's what I plan on doing! I saw a near storage thing where you reuse soda boxes for storage or breast milk!
I worked in the NICU and was responsible for mixing breast milk with additives for babies that needed it. You can keep fresh breast milk in your fridge for up to 4 days. If it is not used in that amount of time you freeze it. Use the fresh before you use frozen! It is a good idea to use stickers to know which milk to use first. (Or at least date the bottles/bags)
Have the same question lol
