I used one with my daughter and it was more than I wanted to worry about. You turn it on at the start of the contraction and turn it back off at the end of it. I ended up leaving it on the whole time and it hurt my back where the sticker things were on my back because it was on for so long. It was also the middle of the night when I went into labor, so that might have had something to do with it. It helped, but was a pain in the a s s lol. It does stop helping once you get so far dilated though.

The best thing for you to do is talk with your OB and if he doesn't answer all your questions/concerns about the different methods of anesthesia available I'm sure you could set up a meeting with someone from anesthesia at the hospital your delivering at. They of course should have a much better explanation and assessment of what anesthesia is best for you. Ladies have natural child birth all the time. Hopefully the tens unit help you through. They do work for some people. I had tried it on my back and shoulders without any relief. I've had several surgeries on both back and shoulders. Maybe you could see if your insurance would cover a unit under DME (durable medical equipment) sometimes they do. I hope you get some help making your decision. Best wishes

Dont wanna get the epidural itscares me :( so was thinkin gas air nd tens machine but dont wanna waste money on it

They do help some people but I haven't had success.
