I love tanning but would never do it while pregnant....I haven't even gone while TTC b/c I wasn't sure of the effects of it......Really, (and again, I LOVE tanning) it's not good for us, it certainly can't be good for baby......No point in risking it when they all kinds of lovely tanning creams now.....I just talked to my stark white Mom who is going to Costa Rica on Fri. and she used the Jergens 3 day tan ans said it's UNREAL....She said she looks like she's been tanning for a month!

yeah no tanning while your preggo for sure..and a towel doesnt block the rays so that wouldnt do any good..and just think of it this way, think how warm you get while tanning and the baby is already a few degrees warmer anyways, i personally would feel like im boiling my baby. my dr says no tanning..so i dont go.

Hello ladies! Tanning is safe, not harmful. However, when one reaches a certain point in their pregnancy, you should not lie flat due to the potential of cutting off vital blood flow. Try a stand up booth. After you start to show a lot more, switch to spray tan or self tanner. You do NOT want to faint from overheating in a tanning booth. Try explaining THAT to your Doctor!! Have fun.

The doc that my sister is going to say that tanning is fine as long as you put a towel over your stomach, and one behind your back.  My doc says absolutely no tanning.  My thought is - isn't one of the reasons not to go tanning so that you don't overheat?  Well, how the heck would a towel help prevent that?

It may not effect you ttc but if you get pregnant it could potentionally harm the baby.
