Terrified of labor

So last night I had the worse back pain ever I couldn't even walk and could barely stand up. My bf had to help me get to the bathroom I'm happy he was here and not at work. I think it's because my baby is in the posterior position but now I'm scared cuz I could barely tolerate that pain for ten minutes let alone being in labor for hours:/

Focusing on baby instead of the pain is the best way.  I had back labor with my first, sitting or laying was awful.  Labor is hard, but the fact that there is a goal, and an end to it helps you make it through it. Ive had my 3 naturally, and can be a serious wimp when it comes to pain.  You should see me try to stand up after sitting on the ground with my kids!  I dont really remember if pushing hurt worse with my back labor.  It took almost 2 hours, and the exhaustion was worse then the pain.  I think my other 2 hurt just as bad, but were so much faster.  By the time your pushing its duch a relief no matter how bad it hurts you just want to do it.

Ok thanks I'll try to focus on her rather than the pain I just think all that is going to go out the window once the pain starts lol but the ladies at my l&d unit are really nice so I'm sure they'll help me through it

Yes it does hurt to push with back labor. There a lot of pressure in your back and the pain is concentrated to your back but onces the baby is out its over. It'll all be over so fast the pain won't matter after a while. Don't think too hard on it. Just remember every pain you feel is one step closer to having your baby in your arms

My epidural was a drip. So it never wore off till they took it out. It wasn't just one shot.

I went natural with my first for 36 hours with back labor. I have many tricks that helped me get through it. Look up ways to help back labor. You will find a lot of helpful info. The best thing for me was sitting in a shower chair backwards with the water hitting my back

I forget the name of the medication I got but it was hooked up to my iv , I got that before I got the epidural because I was scared of getting the epi so I chose the medication and it makes you feel "drunk" really loopy it worked but the effects were terrible feeling I ended up throwing up . I chose the epi later at night because the contractions were terrible :)  it wasn't bad it like blood getting drawn the needle but once they inject it you'll feel a heavy intense menstrual cramp and then its done and over . It was fast for me I asked to not know what he was doing and my nurse stood infront of me holding my hand . It wasn't bad . For me anyway . BUT ! IT WORE OFF when it came time to push I felt everything . It has different effects for everyone if you have any questions feel free to ask momma .

Anesthesia?  Idk if they still do it but my youngest brother(he's 6 they let my mom have it and do.natural labor) I'm planning on doing the epidural cause I don't want to feel it -.- I just know I'm going to be a wimp and cry, but they can give you more than 1 epidural they gave my sister 3 cause she was processing so slow and they kept wearing off

I didn't want want the epidural because I'm scared of it and some people tell me they've had problems afterwards or it didn't work and they still felt everything. I have 4 weeks left at my next appt I'm going to talk to my doctor about other types of pain relief

When your in labour just think about all the progress ur making with each contraction instead of the pain. Thinking about my son the first tume around really.helped me and know theres always epidurals and other pain meds they can give you. Usually near the end ur just so anxious to have babe that ull be wanting to.go into labour!
