Hi Doc,
I am 8 weeks pregnant & very excited!  My husband & I have seen our General Practicioner as well as a midwife to confirm our pregnancy.  I did a urine test, got my blood pressure taken & heartrate.  I did not get an ultrasound & they said I could not schedule one until around 12 weeks.  I guess since I knew the date of the first day of my last period as well as the date we conceived.  They say I look great & are very nice, I feel like I'm in good hands - - but of course a big part of me would feel reassured if I had an ultrasound & saw something.  What is the typical timeframe for an ultrasound?

I don't know what the regular time frame is. I'm 7 weeks 3 days and have already had one. I have one scheduled for Tuesday the 20th which is when I'll be 8 weeks. However, I got pregnant through IVF. Congrats and best of luck!!

This is not a doctor forum.  This forum is just for communication with other women about pregnancy and issues surrounding that.  (Oops.  Every now and then we do get some males on here also)

But I have had 5 kids.  My doctor will do an ultrasound at my first appt. just to make sure my due date corresponds with my LMP and make sure the baby is where it's suppose to be.  He then schedules one at 18 to 20 weeks to check everything else.  That one I have at the hospital.

it all depends on the practicioner. my ob/gyn gave me one at 7.5 weeks, and i knew the date of my lmp and all. some dr.s do it soon some wait, it all depends on them.

i had two us's already, but that could be because i had miscarried back in june. also to reassure me that everything is fine so far. thank goodness. today i had my second one and i'm 9 weeks 4 days. i got to see the heartbeat, lil arms and legs swaying around. my last one passed at 8 weeks. so today made me feel so relieved. all docs do things differntly.
