Umbilical Hernia ):

Hi everyone!
I found out a month or two ago that I have an umbilical hernia.. I went to the surgeon and they said that I will have surgery 3-5weeks after my baby girl is born and it wasn't anything to worry about.. now I have noticed that it has gotten a little worse and it's sore.. has anyone else experienced this? What did you do? I also have a two year old son so taking it easy is kinda hard.

Oh yes. Im glad she is finally getting it done, considering she complains about it. I don't say anything but my step dad has. I walk away when she starts on one of her rampages about her hernia. I still wish she would have gotten it fixed sooner

That's good. The sooner the better. It's a very simple outpatient procedure.

I wish she would go get it done. I believe she is waiting for her deductible to hit and then she is going to get it done. I believe she said either by the end of this year or beginning of next year

It can be dangerous if she doesn't have it fixed.. it can get worse. she could pick something up wrong and it can rupture. A ruptured hernia is very dangerous.

Then that is what she has. She had a c-section six years ago and didnt get it fixed then. I think she has had it for years and years and im starting to wonder why sge hasn't gotten it fixed

Question is your umbilical hernia on your belly button? My mom has a horrible hernia that she has not gotten taken care of and im wondering if that is what it is

Has yours got worse though? I will try the warm damp towel. I figured the soreness would happen but they didn't say anything about it getting bigger. It's like the hole is stretching. It makes sense that it is cause I'm getting bigger but will it make things worse?

I have one as well! I will have surgery for it 4 weeks after labor. I'm scheduled for induction this Saturday if she doesn't come on her own by then. Sadly there isn't much you can do for it, mine gets more sore the farther my pregnancy has got and I have a 4 & 2 yr old I'm always home with cuz my husband works 60-70hrs a week so I can't really take it easy. I have found putting a warm damp towel has help tho.
