Unplanned/ Birth Control Pregnancy

I am 21 years old and just found out that I am approximately 6 weeks pregnant. I was on the pill and did not miss my period so this came as quite a shock. I am in a healthy committed monogamous relationship with a great guy. I am terrified and have no idea what I should be doing! Any advice for a first timer?

How do I choose a good doctor? I do not currently have a primary care physician due to changes in insurance.

Drink lots of water, no lifting over 25 pounds. Eat lots of veggies, limit caffeine intake to maybe 1 can of soda or 1 cup of coffee. If your body says its tired , rest! And as myost said prenatal vitamins and dr appointments are a must. Good luck and congrats

Check with your insurance company to see if they cover maternity.  If not you may need to look into medicaid.  Where i live health insurance companies don't cover maternity anymore. You are going to want to find an OB/GYN to confirm your pregnancy and how far along you are.  Stop taking your birth conrtol (I'm sure you knew that). Pick up some prenatal vitamins (you can take 2-4 flinstone vitamins a day if regular ones make your sick). Don't eat cold deli meat, don't clean the cat's litter box if you have one, make sure all dairy products are "pasturized", and No queso from mexican restaurants unless it's pasturized. I'm sure there is more but that's off the top of my head.

Look in the phone book for obgyn . Also pregnant women are eligible for medicaid and wick . That's, a starting point.

I was on the pill and got preggers too. Sometimes it just happens! Don't sweat it you will figure things out. Take your prenatals and definatly get a doctor asap. Look online for doctors in your area or get friends or family members to suggest doctors.
