Uti while pregnant

I am 24 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with a UTI and took prescribed antibiotics for a week and felt back to normal. Today two days after finishing the antibiotics I again have uti symptoms of needing to urinate frequency with other small amount of urine coming out, slight burn and odor, and very severe pain on my right side. I went back to the doctor and was given a different antibiotic. Should I go to the hospital if the pain and symptoms persist tonight?

Remember to take some probiotics alongside or after the antibiotic treatments. Yes antibiotics are a great way to get some relief from UTI conditions and also to serve as a cure. But the problem with antibiotic treatment is that they end up killing all bacteria. The good and the bad likewise. Our digestive system, urinary tract and gut are lined with these good bacteria which help to facilitate digestion and overall health and immune system. Killing these bacteria throws the gut flora off balance and as a result can lead to other complications. This is why I would advise you to take some probiotic supplements as well to balance gut flora and also to fight off the bacteria which are causing the UTIs. I would recommend you have a look into Flourish Probiotics by Eu Natural. This is a combination of good bacteria that will help to solve UTI problems and also support gut health.
A final advise from me is to drink lots of water and try to stay rested.

Hi there.  I got those too when I was pregnant.  I hated to take anything medicine wise but I did and it really helped.  Are you feeling better yet?

Hello and welcome to Medhelp's forums!  Thank you for your question and we will try to help.  We're sorry you have a UTI. We're glad you are working with your doctor which is the important step to take first! These are fairly common during pregnancy and especially during weeks 6 to 24.  UTI's are not considered dangerous to either the growing fetus or mom.  But they are uncomfortable and we're again, sorry you have this issue.  Here's some information https://www.webmd.com/women/guide/pregnancy-urinary-tract-infection.  Typically we feel better 24 to 72 hours after starting antibiotics although we need to take the full course that is prescribed.

It is always your judgment call about the ER. You do have the number to call your ob/gyn and can do so even during the night.  They should guide you if an ER visit is warranted.  It likely will not be.

Let us know how you are doing. best of health to you.
