Also, one more thing is that I do agree with specialmom...try to get yourself into school. You can do online classes and there are grants out there for single moms. That way you have something going for you in the long run and dont have to depend on anyone or anything else to provide for you and your child.

Im sure common sense tells her to get a job but i also think its very unfair to assume she can work at the moment even if she didnt put that in detail. Yes a job is your best option hun cuz getting on welfare should be your last option but if thats ur only option definitely go into ur local welfare office and fill out an application for nutrition assistance and cash aod. I hope things work out for you and take care of yourself.

You could look for a job if you don't have one?

I think everyone is just trying to help.  I think everyone who is in the position of being a single mother has to think short term and long term.  You may need some cash assistance and help in the short term to get you through.  We as a country help those in need.  So, if you qualify, you should be able to get that help.  Then the responsibility is to think long term/big picture as well.  What can you do to be an independent, self sufficient citizen of the country?  Jobs are mentioned for that piece of it and that is valid.  Every adult and especially a single mom has to think of what they can do to make their living.  This may require them to go to school---  college or trade school which there are often grants to help cover some or all of depending on income levels.  I'm in full support of young ladies getting education so that they can then get a good job and fend for themselves financially.

so, I think if you break it into those two categories---  what you can do for a short term, immediate need while getting a plan together for long term so it isn't a lifestyle, that is the best way to approach it.

Every state is different and you must qualify.  This can take some time so you would want to get started on that--  paper work can take a bit to process.  good luck

It really all dependson where you live, and if you have an income, other children, expenses, etc. No one is just going to give you money because you are a single mom. If you are in the US go to your closest DSS
