I live in southern GA and last couple months the bugs have been a nightmare! The spots look alot like what my son ended up with after being outside for maybe 10 min. He was covered head to toe. They looked identical to the ones in that pic and when i felt them it was almost like small lumps under the skin. Turned out they were just weird mosquito bites. It didn't bother him unless he rubbed them against something and they seemed to swell up. We put hydrocordizon cream on them and within a day they were looking much better and some were gone. I would suggest trying that.
LOL! Yeah that's pretty much the way I go. If those don't work..bactroban it is!
Well the pics look almost like when Aubryana had ant bites (wrote on the other pic)...ya never know though, I really don't know half the stuff Elijah breaks out with I just know how to treat most of it...hydrocortisone and benadryl stay stocked here.
A couple weeks ago she had a GI virus-bad diarrhea/diaper rash, but that's pretty much gone I think. I forgot to check them when I got her dressed so I'll have to look at them when I change her diaper.
Oh ok...just read the no temp thing, Elijah would get a rash even if he hadn't had a temp, and had some kind of virus, whether it be just a cold, runny nose/sneezing or whatever...I swear he's gotta be approaching the world record for number of rashes in childhood, lol.
Hmmm...that looks almost like what mine get after a virus...has she been sick at all? Elijah gets red and bumpy sometimes when he's been hot too...
Franky had a virus called Roseola a couple of months back... started with a low grade fever for two days about 100 degrees, then when the fever broke he broke out into a bumpy red rash on just the trunk of his body. Not on the arms or legs just on his face a little and his neck/back and arms. It did look similar to this. But, if she has it on her arms it is probably not that. I just wanted to mention Roseola so all of you other moms know about it. Nothing serious just a virus that is common for babies and toddlers. The rash clears up in a few days. Hope you get this figured out with Lily :) My doc did mention that if it was a food allergy or any sort of allergic reaction it most likely would be head to toe.
LOL, mine is too. I have so many prescriptions for this, that and everything in between. We just recently went through somethign similar with Abby. She had a spot on her thigh that looked like a HUGE bug bite...but instead of getting better, it got worse. SO I took her to the ped., turns out it was a staff abscess! EEK! So after a round of antibiotics, several warm compress, a lot of bactroban and plenty of time...she is now just waiting for the dead skin to be replaced with new.
Abby also has eczema that comes and goes - so we have all kinds of stuff for it.
One thing we DON'T ever have issues with are food allergies or any other allergy. The last time I had an issue with one of my kids being allergic to something was when DD15 was 18 months old. She picked up a bee, it stung her inside her hand and she swelled up like the Goodyear blimp. A small panic attack on my mom's part, a call to 911 and a shot of epinephrine and she was fine. Haven't had an issue since. SO, if this IS a food sensitivity - it's a whole new world for me.
I hate stuff like that it seems like one of my kids almost always has some kind of mystery rash, bite, or other skin issue. We have a great ped and he gives us scrips for all kinds of creams and ointments. My medicine cabinet is well stocked! Some kids just have more sensitive skin issues.
We're driving to SAvannah tomorrow to meet my new nephew, but if they are still there Monday morning I'll take her in to see the ped.
Nicmom: I'm gonna try that. Once they are gone I'll give her the eggs again and see what happens. The rash on her mouth has come and gone. I believe there is a correlation between it being there and eating eggs, but I supposed it could also be a teething rash as well. I'll figure it out sooner or later LOL
I would go see the ped. just to make sure, but I would bet redbugs are the culprit. They can show up at anytime. BUT, I would also not dismiss the egg allergy either. It wouldn't hurt to have it checked out, just so you could have peace of mind.
God bless. Praying for an answer!!!
P.S. In in NC and i know what you mean about the heat!!!
If it was chicken pox you would have other symptoms like a fever. You could wait a few days and then try eggs again and see if it produces the same results. I only lean towards the eggs thing since you said it started by her mouth.
I live in Georgia so red bugs are definately a consideration.. EXCEPT...she hasn't been outside in awhile. It's been way to hot here. Well, I take that back. Sunday we went to the lake and stood on the doc for awhile while the other kids fished, but these didn't show up til sometime last night.
No new detergents, shampoos, lotions, creams - nothing of that sort. The only thing new she's had are different foods. I'm starting to wondering if she has a sensitivity to eggs. It seems like whenever she has them she gets weird stuff. It started a few times with the rashy-looking blotches on her mouth. Now this. She had eggs yesterday for breakfast! I think the spots are too big for heat rash.
I was gonna guess Chicken Pox! Do you live out in the country or has she been out in a wooded area?? Are you familiar with red bugs? It could be that. I am NOT a doc, just a mom that lives in the country and has dealt with red bugs more than once.
Did you use a new detergent? I would say it's some kind of skin irritation, but doesn't look like bug bites. Heat rash, food allergy, new detergent??
no temp, I don't see any heads on them - that's why I'm thinking it's not a bite.
They do feel like there's a knot under the surface of some of them. They also don't seem to bother her.
Do they have a whitehead on them (like a pimple)? Does she have a temp?
FYI the red splotches are her neck are a birth mark
