What does this mean?

Last month I had what I thought was my period, it didn't act like it normally does. It wasn't as heavy and I started spotting a brownish discharge that wasn't even enough to fill up a tampon after that it stopped so I was thinking maybe I was almost off my period which was unusual because of the amount of days but then it started again only it was a light pink color. My periods only last for 4 days but the spotting went on for 5 1/2 days. I tried looking it up and the only thing I found was saying that I'm either pregnant or it's caused by birth control but I'm not on any type of birth control and have had unprotected sex with my boyfriend after reading that information I decided to take a home pregnancy test but it came out negative. I've experience pregnancy  like symptoms such as fever, headaches, fatigue, tiredness, nausea without vomiting. I've never experienced those issues before. If the tests say negative what other reasons could it be?

that sounds either like implantation bleeding, if it occoured before your period was due, or bleeding around the time your period is due is due to there not being enough preg hormone to stop a small period like bleed but enough to keep the pregnancy viable. Some women have a bleed like this every month when their period is due, they mistake this for their periods and dont find out they are preg until aroun12 or so weeks, it may have been abit to early for you to have a pos result, test agin using first morning urine, and dont use the digital test as it isnt as sensitive as the dye ones
