I have been and my baby is just fine!
I ate cold lunch meat the entire time I'm a huge sandwich eater and wasn't about to give it up and I can't always have a "tosted" sandwich. Now a days everything is a risk for your baby and it's my own personal belief that it's gone a little to far. I go by if my mom did it with me and I'm fine then my LO will be just fine too. But it's your own personal preference, my midwife just said everything is fine in moderation. My girl is 3.5 weeks old and is perfect in every way shape and form not to mention L&D was a cake walk and not scary or difficult what so ever.
As long as it is fresh, kept properly and not old, the risk of listeria is very, very low.
I ate salami and sandwhiches from subway throughout my pregnancy. Never warmed it up...Never toasted the subs. My dr said you didn't have to. It's personal preference.
You're supposed to heat it up for 20 seconds first to kill harmful bacteria
I do but I warm it up first. The thing is, it's very rare to get the bacteria from the lunch meat that they warn you against, but if you do get it it's very bad and you may lose your baby so I don't want to take the risk. If you don't like warm lunch meat, then you can warm it up and then let it cool before eating it. It doesn't have to be warm when you eat it, and that is enough to prevent you from getting the bacteria.
My last pregnancy i always ate deli meats didnt even know it was "bad" & nothing happened this pregnancy as well i keep eating deli meats so yeah i dont think its bad just try to limit it & everything will be fine.... :)
