Just a little history....
I had my first baby (a girl) on May 13th, 2008. Pregnancy was pretty easy, delivery was another matter all together. I had to be induced after going 8 days over, by that time had developed high blood pressure. They induced me on a Sunday and Tuesday morning i was still in labour and only 3 or so cms dialated. Finally after deciding me and the baby had suffered enough they decided on a csection. Baby was taken out and perfectly healthy. I was another story. I had major bleeding. Didn't need a transfusion because i had a high blood count to start with but i lost alot of blood. They had a hard time getting the placenta out..what they told me was it was really stuck to my uterus (which come to find out is called placenta accreta). They finally thought they had it all out and closed me up. A week later i ended up back in the hospital with heavy bleeding again. U/S was done and showed a small piece of placenta still attached to my uterus. They gave me a shot that killed off the placenta and it passed about a week later. No problems after that but i'm really worried about the delivery for my second child. I am now 16 weeks pregnant again and lately am getting extremely worried and anxious about it all happening again. My doctor wants me to try a vaginal birth but i really think i'm going to tell her i opt for a csection. My last baby was almost 10 lbs and i don't want to have to go through all that again. Anyway anyone have a similar experience with first but go on to deliver fine with next? My doctor tells me it's not gauranteed that i'll have placenta accreta again but from all that i read in the internet it seems that once you have it once there's a huge chance of having it again. Can anyone help?
