after labor..,period for a month?

So I haven't seen this question asked..,is it true that after labor you get your period for like a month straight and that its heavier than before ? If its true , why does it last a month ? Sorry but I'm a first time mom and I just wanted to know if this was true or not...

After labor you bleed a lot. I bled for 1 month but it's not a period...6 weeks after i had my daughter, i got my first actual period.

It's not really your period but your bleeding for 4-6 weeks after the baby is born. Then soon after your period starts. That's how mine was but I breastfed also. Breastfeeding can delay your period.

Some women do get it for upto 8 weeks and it can be verry hevy but all women are difrent. I lost a LOT of blood during labour and imesiatly after and my pirod only lasted a week and was just spotting for the last 3 days.

Its so long since I had my daughter that I can't remember how long I bled for..but you do have blood loss after giving birth and its usually very heavy initially and starts to slow down..it's just a natural part of the process :)
