am I wrong?

My best friend just had her a baby a month ago, today she is planning to get a tattoo honoring her daughter. She asked me to take her but I just don't know.. isn't it bad to get a tattoo while breastfeeding?? And not to mention she wants the tattoo on her boob. I told her she should wait but she's so damn hard headed.  Opions please so I can show her??

Ot wont affect milk probably but boob will be sore. And that rare off chance she contracts something not worth it to bc it will pass to baby. Personally I just think its stupid lol

The shop I got to will not tattoo you if you are breast feeding. There are so many things that could go wrong. You CAN get an infection from ink even if you never have before because your hormones are different while breastfeeding. Plus there is a batch of ink going around right now that was recalled. I wouldn't take the risk.

I was told by my doctor I could get one, because it wouldn't effect my milk. I wouldn't want one on my boob, but I think it's fine.

In fact. Call l&d at the hospital and ask the lactation consultant yourself rather than getting biased opinions here :) that way you two make an educated decision.

It is not harmful when you're breastfeeding  it cannot get into or contaminate the milk. Its perfectly fine. Thats why they dont say "are you breastfeeding" on the forms, just "are you pregnant".

I was given the ok by my doctor to get one while breast feeding. It was not on my boob so double check with the doctor on that one. The risk is if the needles are not sterile, etc and you contract some sort of disease or infection. I know the guy who did mine, he's done all of mine and opens brand new, sterile equipment in front of you. I think it's a personal decision but if her doctor is ok with it and she is comfortable doing so, I don't see why it would be an issue. She's not pregnant so no stress on a fetus. The ink does not get into breastmilk though.

Your not supposed to while breastfeeding only because if the tattoo is not cared for properly and gets infected the infection its self can get into the milk.. If it's a clean shop and she takes care of it properly it's a slim chance but not one I'm willing to take. My fiance is a tattoo artist so I know for a fact it's clean and would obviously be taken care of properly and I'm still not going to risk it while nursing

She should wait until shes no longer nursing. Just like you shouldnt get one while pregnant,  yiu shouldnt while BF either. Plus her boobs are in enough pain why cause more?
