anxious

I have a huge problem with people looking at my private parts. Even doctors. My husband barely gets to look on a good day. So I know that the pelvic exam that the doctor does on the first visit has to happen but I was wondering how long the actual exam takes and what all it entails. Thanks in advance!

It last about 4minutes at the most probably shorter but seems long lol its super uncomfortable but its worth it for the baby incase u have any infections or anything u dont know about just breath in and close ur eyes lol thats what I usually do

It all kind of dependa where you live. I had a pap test for my first visit but it was really quick. Ive had quite a few internal exams because ive had complications so ive gotten really used to them. Just try qnd relax qnd know it will be over before you know it.

they don't do internals in the uk unless your at due date, unless there's medical necessity before (ie suspected preterm labour or suspected waters going)     i had my 1st at 36w due to hind waters going, then i hsd 4 sweeps and had my waters broken artificially as i went 2 weeks overdue, by that point i didn't really care as just wanted baby out.   just remember that the dr sees hundreds of lady bits in his career and to him it's just another day,no different to you seeing your hand every day, if that makes sense :) x

I didn't like the idea of it, but when it was actually happening I didn't even care. They drape you, so you can't see anything, so it doesn't really feel like you're exposed. Your doctor will be very professional and make you comfortable. You'll be fine. It's not a big deal once you get there, it's just the anticipation that's the hard part. Once you're done you'll say, "that wasn't so bad!"

Yea the fact that they do it everyday does help ease the idea...

I have my first midwives appointment on Friday, and they didn't mention anything about sticking anything up there. I have the same problem, I don't even like my hubby to look down there.

I was the same, i hated the idea! I live in the uk so i didnt get a examination untill i was overdue for a sweep but i was so nervous. I ended up having LOADS of examinations done in the end because i didnt progress but in the end there was a room full of doctors ect and i really did not give a **** tbh. Ul be fine.
