They should be fine but make sure the person is CERTIFIED by a CREDIBLE company.  Some masseuse who use the tables with the hole cut out for the belly is actually not good for the mother because it pulls on ligaments, puts strain on back and such.  Just make sure they know what they are doing.

A prenatal masseuse can help you out. They do NOT cause miscarriages.

They have to be certified in giving pregnancy massages. Just make sure they know what they're doing, and you should be fine.

Have fun :)

My doc said massages are fine, but in the last trimester it needs to be a specific maternity massage because certain nerves and pressure points can throw you into preterm labor. So anything should be fine until your third trimester, but once that hits take it easy. No deep penetrating massages, and best bet is a maternity massage.

I was looking at a place that does prenatal massage and they said second and third trimester.

I heard that massaging the feet could cause preterm labor, because of pressure points on the feet.

I was also told to have one only by a someone who knows how to give a pg woman one.  A massage can cause the onset of preterm labor.  I have a bad back and had to stop getting them from just a regular massue and go to one who is registered just for ph woman.  I also was surprised to see it on a baby story.  So just be careful.  And ask your doctor if they recommend anyone.  My office actually has its own people.

I have never heard anything like that before. How would it cause a miscarriage? From what I've heard, the only thing that could cause a miscarriage through massage is excessively massaging the abdomen, which they won't even touch. They rubbed my hands, feet, head & face and my upper back. She also spent a few minutes on my legs and lower back, but not too much time.  Enjoy yourself and if you'd like to make yourself feel better, just call your nurse line as ask real quick.
