Stretch and sweep???

yay!!! there is finally an end in site girls!!! i asked to be induced coz of all this pain im having and funnily hes said ok! and that in 2 weeks being the 1st of september they will do i sweep and strech?  i will be 37 wks + they will check how favorable my cervix is and if its already favorable look at breaking my water :) yay but bubs head is still high so would have to be a controlled arm so doesnt end in cord prolapse!
anyhow who has had a stretch and sweep before? whats it like and does it work?
midwife also sugested to try a laxative and get DH to put his finger thre my cervix and move it around to get things going before hand,
im just glad there is now an end insite he was shocked the scan pics came back that bub is already so big he now understands the pain im in!
yay!
who has had this done and did it work and in what time frame ?

Im not sure if your doctor mean sweeping your cervix/membranes??? Its basicly an exam were the doctor uses their finger to loosen the bag of waters from the cervix. They tend to strech the cervix at the same time. Im not sure if im describing it right or not:( you can try googling stripping the membranes or sweeping the cervix and get a better desciption. I have had it done with all my pregnancys. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. It can be a little uncomfortable.............. Good luck!
