Samiba91 is right. But the egg only survives 24 hours after ov it will better your chance for a boy having sex as close to ovulation as possible but wont guarantee anything. I want a boy. Had sex day before and day after ovulation now got my fingers crossed that the girl swimmers got left behind this pregnancy..but ill be more than excited with either.

I don't think you really can choose. Unless you go through IVF. I'm pretty sure in the USA you can pay for them to choose the sex of your baby. But it costucostupwards of $10, 000

Hey I'm just repeating what is in my pregnancy book. The y sperm and x sperm are different to each other and the x sperm is made in such a way that it is slower than the y sperm but lasts longer in the vagina and the y sperm lives for a shorter time but swims faster so if you have sex before ovulation the y sperm may die before ovulation occurs leaving the x sperm to fertilize the egg. If you have sex after ovulation the egg will be on its way down the fallopian tube and give a chance to the faster y sperm to fertilize the egg.

To increase the number of y sperm that are there when you ovulate you avoid sex until two days before ovulatin then have sex every day til you ovulate. It won't assure a boy but it does increase the number that are there that can make a boy. Only way to assure a boy is have a doctor use a sperm sample, remove all the x sperm then do IVF or IUI with just the y sperm

I know all about x and y chromosomes the male sperm carry either one to the egg but I just don't understand how one can be faster that the other!! And surely having sex after ovulation wont get you pregnant atall??

X sperm will give you a female and y sperm gives you a male.

Sorry but that made no sense at all! Female sperm?? The sex of a baby is determined as soon as the egg is fertilised it doesn't matter when you have sex there will still always be 50/50 of having a boy!!

Male sperm are faster than female sperm but they don't last as long in the vagina, therefore yo have a boy it It's best to have sex a day or 2 after ovulation. For a girl have sex before and during ovulation.
