baby shower priorities

So my mom planned my first shwoer for when i had my daughter. It was fun. About 15-20 people came, we had nice food and games with very little decorations. (mostly the food/cake area was decorated)

So the dilemma im having about this baby shower... Is she insists on spending a ton of money on decorations to make it 'spectacular'. And she didn't budget at all and is now saying how unimportant the food is! I have told her over and over the food is more important to me than decorations we will never use again. She wont listen! Im about ready to buy the food myself but im honestly bummed she spent more money on candy decor than real food. What do you think??  Whats more important at a shower? Would you spend a little money to adjust it to how you want it? (this is my first baby boy but our last baby ever so i want it to be how i want it lol)

My shower is tomorrow and we made it a potluck. One big main dish and whatever everyone else brings. It makes the cost a little less on one person in particular. We are doing decorations but nothing spectacular.

Mom tamales .. I would kill for some legit burritos right now and churros.  Oh and Spanish rice. I was going to visit my moms side (mexican) in june but its over my due date and they have so much food.

Haha make it a BYOF shower! You can do something simple like sandwiches and salads and stuff like that but It may be because I'm pregnant but I 100% agree food is veryyy important!

Ya i guess im gonna have to! The food is so important lol! Her literal words were 'the food isnt important, we dont have to feed everyone' ... Im like YES WE DO! It from 1-4 thats lunch time!

Food. All of my family always bring something it's just something we do for instance my aunt makes her yummy tamales and my mom makes beans and rice me and my husband are gonna get all the meats and food for kids his mom and brother are helping with drink and then other aunts are making things like jello and flan and well you get the idea. Were Mexican so there has to be food lmao maybe just let her worry about ddecorating and such and you can take care of the food?
