big name problems - help

hello ladies - well after some discussion with my DH we are having name issues. I thought we had them sorted but was apparently mistaken as my husband is being very stubborn on the girl name. I really like Georgia Elizabeth and He likes Georgie Elizabeth.  I know they are very similar and you may think what is the problem but i really want to put Georgia on the birth certificate and use Georgie as a nick name. I think Georgia is a pretty little girls name and also a name that suits an adult women and this way she would have the choice as to what she would like to be known as.  My husband thinks why call her one thing if we are always going to call her by her nick name.  I agree to some point like if you have a James and then call him jack but to me they are two separate names whereas ours are more of a formal and then short version.  He isn't willing to budge and and says he doesn't even like Georgia - what am i going to do?  Should i just cave? or should we choose something else?  We have decided that we both have to come up with 3 other names we like in the next few days and see if they are an option but for me  i have my heart set on Georgia and all the others are just 'ok'. I really want to have a name picked before the birth as i don't like the idea of waiting till after and not naming them as soon as they come out.  I know this is silly but I have also known what we are having since 20 weeks and my husband doesn't. We did decide not to find out and i have never actually asked but have seen enough ultra sounds to know what i am seeing and have being calling my little one Georgia in my head for some time now. To now call her something else seems weird to me.  I know this is prob my fault and i shouldn't have done it but i think it is kind of natural to talk to your baby in your tummy and have some name for it.  Any advice would be great - thanks.

To be honest I don't see the big deal in naming her Georgia on the birth certificate and then Georgie for short. Georgia covers all bases, she may want to be George when she's older, so at least Georgia covers the alternatives....maybe suggest it that way?

Why don't you name her Georgia and you call her Georgia and your husband calls her Georgie for a lil' nick name by him.  My dad called my Pookie my entire life, yet Mary is my name...lol.  I now call my daughter Pookie and her daddy calls her Boogie.  It's just something that happened.

We are most women on here and see it your way. It makes way more sense to name her Georgia and call her Georgie. We were also thinking of Georgiana and and calling her Georgie for short. Husbands can be hard and have a different way of thinking....We are having issues with boy names. We have a name picked out that I LOVE and DH doesn't like it. It's hard to think that I can't name MY child what I want, lol. But then I have to remind myself it's his child also.

Maybe it's best to tell him how you feel and that you know what the baby is...you didn't mean to find out but that you have formed a bond with you little Georgia...also make sure he knows your reasoning....which you have probably told him. But make sure he knows that even though she will be his little girl always....some day she will be a women and possibly have a profession where Georgia would fit better the the cute Georgie. Good Luck! I feel your pain :-)

thanks ladies - i know it sounds so silly but i didn't sleep all night trying to think of other names that i like as much but i just can't - i really tried to think i could be happy with just Georgie but then i really like Georgia and want to but that on her wall and school books etc.  I just think it is a better overall option and that it makes more sense.  I am in tears (prob tired and hormonal) but it is really getting to me. Seems to silly but if we call her Georgia then Georgie is a known nick name for that but if we call her Georgie then people would wonder why i call her Georgia and i think it would be odd.  Nor sure what else to do as he is very stubborn and getting more so the more it is talked about.  Oh well might just leave it for a bit and try again later - trouble is i am 39 weeks today so there isn't really much later.

oh and i think he already pretty much knows it is a girl by the way i am so focused on the girl name and if i made it very clear he would be upset and annoyed even more that i know and we agreed not too.
