birth certificate

I'm not planning on putting any information about my daughters father on her birth certificate ! Nor will I tell him when I'm giving birth, baby shower, when she's actually born & definately not giving her his last name!

Have any of you ladies done this & have it later bite you in the a s s ?

Whether you put him on the birth certificate or not ur best bet is filing for full custody that gives you all control.

My oldest birth certificate said father unknown until I started getting child support and because a dna test was demanded from her donor domestic relations out it on there. My 3week old we had to sign a bunch of paternity papers in order for her dad to even sign the birth certificate because we aren't married...

Yea. Idk if its the same in CA as it is in Missouri but I would look into the laws and ask your case worker just to be sure.

Momma,  I think it's great that you're going to talk to the social worker.  The more you know,  the more you know.  ;D

@jsulliva: I'm not doing it out of spite, I'm planning all this becus he's more of a sperm donor and he isnt doing any effort in showing that he cares for his daughter. Im due in 3mnths and he has yet to buy anything for her, go to dr appts or even send a simple txt to see if she's okay. A last name is a privelage not mandatory.

Momma, you might want to talk to the social worker in the hospital and discuss this.

In California,  he does have the legal right to try to establish paternity even if you don't want him to.

I'm assuming he knows your full legal name,  a place where you have lived in the past,  probably your birthdate,  etc.

He has the right to try to establish legal paternity and get visitation rights.  You might want to be prepared for that.

If you plan on using any state assistance, ie food stamps, Medicaid, etc they will mandate DNA testing and enforce child

He can have you order in to court and ask for a dna test. U night be mad at him now but think about ur daughter he may not be worthy to be in her life but she does deserve to know especially when she grows up she's gonna ask you all those questions. It's a big decision to make but ultimately it is urs he can go on birth certificate and you can just get full sole and legal custody.

@baby2inthemaking its hard & sounds messed up right. But hey if they aren't putting any effort in the babys life, then they don't deserve any privelages!

Okay, then there isn't really any problem with not having him on it. If he tries to do that, all you have to do is not show up I'm guessing, because if he isn't on the birth certificate the courts will make him do a DNA test and if you don't show up to it there is no proof for them to go off of for child support. That's how it is here anyways. Good luck! :)
