hi i am 12 weeks pregnant and have just got back my blood results. My hgc is 56.10ng/ml. PappA is 2874 mU/L and transnuchal 1.6mm.
Does this mean that my baby has downs syndrome? i am so worried and dont know what to do ???

I don't think they do the screening on the bloodwork to see if your baby might have Down Syndrome or other problems until you are at least 16 weeks pregnant.  If I am remembering correctly that blood test is done sometime between week 16 and week 20 of pregnancy.  I read if they do that test before that (I think it's called an AFP screen) that the results can be off and you couldn't tell anything by them anyways.

If the doctor thought there was anything wrong with the results of your blood work, they would let you know.  They would tell you that you needed to have further testing like an amnio and maybe some more blood work.

Oh hmmm they told me both times they couldn't test for any of that stuff until 16 weeks minumum.  When I went to the doctor at 13 weeks they didn't even draw any blood.  Oh well you learn something new every day.

I didn't have any blood work or testing done for Tri 13 or downs at 12 weeks. However I was offered the triple screen which is a type of genetic testing for tri 13 and downs, but I turned it down. I don't want to be in the position you are in now, with all the stress and worry, so I chose not to have it done.

the 12 weeks blood test is for trisomy 13 and 21 (Downs). The one that is 16-18 is for spina bifida. I know nothing about what the numbers should be. They shouldve given you a ratio to determine your babies chance of having tri 13 or downs. Also, 1.6 for the transnuchal is a great number to have and that number alone would be a very small risk for downs. They take that number with the bloodwork to determine the ratio though.

What was the test for? I believe you would need a sonogram and amnio to determine if a child has Down Syndrome.
