Worried about a pain in my back, please help?

I am 23 weeks + 2 days. For about three days now I have been getting this sharp/shooting pain in my lower right back that gets worse when I go from sitting to standing and the pain shoots down my leg when I walk. What is this? Should I be concerned? Tylenol only helps for a little bit then the pain comes back.

Thank you ladies for your advice. I'm still in pain but not as worried as I was before. I will try some of your remedies and see if they help.

Yes that sounds like sciatica. I had it with my first pregnancy and had to do 2months of physical therapy. And I am now 20wks pregnant with my second baby and I have it again. It's painful and very annoying but when it gets really bad I try and take a warm bath. I also lay with a pillow in between my legs when I go to sleep. Also try not to sit in the same position for to long. Hope that helped a little. Good luck.

You're welcome! That happened to me around the same time and when I felt her move too the other side, it went away thankfully.

I dreaded it though. I had a case of it due to injury and had to have a chiropractor adjust me about 4-5 times, a week between each one... So it was bad.

Since its during pregnancy and I had it for a day or two at a time, I'm sure it should go away without chiropractic need for you.

Just try to manage the pain and see if lasts much longer, hopefully its gone in a day or two.

Thinking about it, maybe try changing your sleep position to your side and a pillow in between your legs. Once I did that she moved and everything was fine after. Memory joggers lol

Thanks so much for answering me, I have been waiting on an answer all day. I left my nurse a message and she never called back. I will look that up, thanks again! :)

That sounds like sciatica. Its not pleasant for sure. Your nerve is being compressed, maybe by baby or something else. There's many ways to deal with it if you search for sciatica treatment
