The more you nurse the more milk you'll make. Your body will catch up. You could nurse him and then after offer a small amount in a bottle to see if he's still hungry. You could go to just pumping and then feeding it in a bottle. I have known mom's that have done that but it can be harder to keep your supply up if only pumping.
the sore nipples i can handle but him being so unsettled is hard. as soon as his finished feeding he pretty much cries until he falls asleep. but on the bottle his awake for at least an hour after his feed and his just looking around like a happy baby
If you can keep it up for a couple weeks your nipples will toughen up and it won't hurt. I'm breastfeeding my third child currently and I've had sore nipples with every one of them. I honestly dont know anyone who breastfed and didnt get sore nipples. After you nurse put lanolin on them or express a little milk, rub it on and then let them air dry.
his only 2 weeks. when he was born he latched on straight away but my colostrum was really thick so he had to work harder to get it and eventually stopped breast feeding altogether. we had to feed him formula through a seringe so he still knew to suck. i tried again with nipple protectors, he latched on straight away but the nipple protectors gave him really bad wind. about three days ago i tried again and he was doing it perfect! the only problem was that one of my nipples is inverted and it hurts no matter how well he latches on.
If you really want to keep breastfeeding you should talk to a lactation consultant and see if you cant work the problem out.
