Thank you ladies for the advice. I appreciate it :)
My DD will be 2 in January and still nurses about once a day. She's losing interest in it. Part of me would like to tandem nurse, but I'm not sure that she would share all that well! Lol
I suggest that you research tandem nursing. It's amazing how your milk will change and recognize the needs of your newborn.
There is no reason to stop breastfeeding if you don't want to. You may drop in supply some and sometimes babies will wean themselves during mom's pregnancy because of change in taste. I am only 8 weeks, but my daughter is 23 months and still nursing at night. Our bodies will produce for the newborn, and the older children may not like it then either and choose to wean. Or they may not. Women through time have tandem nursed their children, and it's completely up to how you feel about it. Breastmilk is an amazing thing in it's ability to change it's makeup to meet our children's needs. If you choose to wean, you may find your son suddenly interested in nursing again when your daughter is born. I am not pushing to wean, but I am finding her sleeping longer through the night now, and she may do it herself before the new baby. I will do what I have to do for both of them. My daughter has febrile seizures and an older sister who brings every illness home from school with her, so I am trying to keep her as healthy as I can by passing my antibodies on to her through breastmilk. Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy!
hi there
I stopped breastfeeding as soon as I found out I was pregnant .
It wasn't too bad as he was only on one feed a day then as he had just had his first birthday when I found out. He took to cows milk really well so it wasn't a problem and he was old enough anyway by then.
I would be worried about messing up the natural way the milk changes as it is much different for a two year old than a new born. The nutrients in the milk at that point would be different and usually the first few days after the birth you are normally just giving your baby the clear liquid which has all the important antibodies in it from you to protect him for around six months .
It is up to you really but my child weaned off pretty easily when I was pregnant
There is a lady in the breast feeding community that bf both of her children you may want to connect with her
